MEMORANDUM
TO: All Public School
Staffs & Students
FROM: Lorna Jeremy,
Student At John Jay College Of Criminal Justice
DATE: February 7, 2017
SUBJECT: CyberBullying
& Effects It Has On High School Students
It has come to my
attention that bullying has become a serious problem, especially among teens. A
few days ago a young girl committed suicide after she was allegedly bullied
online by her peers at school and nobody knew about it; not even her parents.
That why it is very important for us to find solutions for this issue to better
help our kids.
CyberBullying is a form
of bullying that happens online by the use of
technology, people are able to send messages, photos, to
harass, embarrass, or target another individual. As the result, the
bully-victims might have a hard time standing up for themselves and they may
feel as if they are powerless and afraid to speak up about it. Thus, people who are bullied are
more likely to have depression, anxiety, feelings of loneliness, and suicide
thoughts.
My recommendations are
for those students who are being bullied is to get help and find an adult or
close friend to talk too. They may actually help with the issue and help you
deal with it. As for adults, they should become more aware about this issue and
notice the signs of their kids being bully before it even happens, so, they can actually to do
something about it.
