Abstract
Nature
vs. Nurture, is one of the oldest debates in our society that centers on the
idea that genetic inheritance or our environment influence or shapes who we are.
Some believe that it is nature that plays more of an important role on traits,
whereas others believe that nurture plays more of an influential role on a
person’s physical appearance and personal characteristics such as their skills or
abilities. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to determine whether nature or
nurture plays a greater role in determine a person’s skills in society.
Nature vs. Nurture: The Human Development
Over the years, there has been an ongoing issue among philosophers and scientists on whether heredity or environment plays more of an influential role on individual’s skills and abilities. This issue is known as nature versus nurture.
Nature, is the belief that talent is solely inherited. Whereas, nurture is refers to the result of one's environment influences or shaping their skills. Thus, I believe that unique skills are what people developed in life and not born with, as seen from Albert Einstein, with his advances in the fields of science and physics, ultimately discovering the theory of relativity, to Leonardo Da Vinci, who demonstrated advances in art, and even innovations in architecture and the sciences. We have a kind of growing ability to our environment that allow us to expand our amazing aptitude.
To begin, our capacity to increase our astonishing skills shows the constant growth in human intelligent. In the book Outliers: The Story of Success, the author, Malcolm Gladwell’s summarizes how you need to put in time and effort to get to what you want in life .He states "Ten thousand hours of practice is required to achieve the level mastery associated with being a world class expert in anything."People are simply not born with gifts, it takes the ongoing of developing skills of concentration and resilient to developed superhuman abilities. He also shows the amount of practice is acquire to achieve many inimitable gifts to obtain a skillful career in the long run. Furthermore, it stated, “It seems that it takes the brain this long to assimilate all that it needs to know to achieve true mastery." This statement shows the develop process for human beings to become the understanding of an ability and could not be skill at birth. The author purpose is to illustrate that a long amount of practice is acquire for a person to fully grasp a skill.
Moreover, the dedication and effort that one has for their field of interest also influences their skills and success. As shown in the article “Practice makes perfect: Why it takes 10,000 hours to be a success at anything, according to a top academic”, the author states how“ Victoria Pendleton’s emphatic gold in the women’s sprint cycling in Beijing came only after humiliating defeat in Athens four years ago. After training for four hours a day, six days a week the 27 year old finally reaped the rewards.”, Thus, it shows how practice is needed to be successful in life. In addition to the text, it states that “Rebecca Adlington, the 19-year-old swimmer who won two gold medals at the Beijing Games, has put in an estimated 8,840 hours of training since the age of 12. Bill Furniss, her coach said: “When I first saw her, what stood out was the fact that she was so willing to take the pain and make sacrifices.” Therefore, practice is needed to grasp any skill or ability in life.
In this image, we can see that there is a boy writing in his book. But, he is actually practice his work in order to become better at in. Thus, practicing for a long time is good way to go to gasp any skill.

On the other hand, some might argue that people are born with gifts, which is simple not true. Again and again our past history has shown the marvelous improvement in individual who express the bizarre abilities. In text two Bettyann Kelves stated, “Her ability to put herself in steer's body to sense its elemental fear and learn how to soothe it has helped her succeed as a biologist at Colorado State University." Grandin expressed how she develop her bizarre ability to sense the suffering of animals. Moreover, it shows how her unusual skill has assist her as a scientist to comprehend not only her emotions but the natural world. In Addition the text, also states" Temple Grandin may well think in pictures, but she has mastered the written word in this highly readable account of life as a resident alien in our midst.'' This statement shows that Grandin been born with autism has enable her to acquire many unique gift that has help her along with her superhuman ability. Although some people are naturally born with talent, it takes a lot of practice and time for that ability to grow and mature into an astonishing skill. Just like the flowering of plants takes its time to flourish, people also take their time to discover their gift in order to become masterful at what they do. The author purpose is to show that many people with learning problems or other disabilities are born with bizarre skills, but it takes time for that ability to develop fully. As show in the film "Nature or nurture? Twin studies," how skills are what you developed from your environment, not born with.
To conclude, superhuman are people who develop extraordinary and unusual capabilities enabling them to perform feats beyond anything ordinary individuals could conceivably achieve with practice and development of their skill. Clearly, our bizarre abilities comes from a long development process and not by some birth banality. To be more forcefully is to say mastery of a subject is the superhuman ability to define expert level. So to join the ranks of people like Albert Einstein, Newton Richard Feynman is extraordinary.
